The Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 was the largest in Games history! It was open to all: residents from Paris and its region, as well as visitors from all over France and around the world. The ceremony took place last Friday,  starting at 7:30 p.m. local time and lasting just under four hours, with the final stages taking place as the sun set across the French capital Opening of the Olympic games. Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, and Aya Nakamura delivered memorable performances. Lady Gaga kicked off the event with a spectacular rendition of Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon truc en plumes” along the Seine River. Following her performance, Celine Dion closed the ceremony with a powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s famous song “Hymne á l’amour” at the Eiffel Tower. It was the first live performance since the announcing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in 2022. Snoop Dogg and other industry veterans also showcased their flair during this historic event.

·        In the East Zone of São Paulo, a balloon caused an incident that affected the electricity supply to around 400,000 properties. The balloon, which was 75 meters long, was launched with fireworks and a festive atmosphere. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the electrical wiring in at least seven neighborhoods was hit. Enel, responsible for energy supply, managed to restore power to 95% of customers quickly, 40% immediately and 55% within 17 minutes after the incident. It is important to remember that releasing balloons is prohibited and can cause serious damage and safety risks. Police are investigating the incident to find those responsible. There are still 5,000 properties without electricity in the region while the remains of the balloon are removed from the wiring. It is essential that everyone is responsible and avoids the practice of releasing balloons, considering the negative impacts they can cause.

In historic speech, Biden says he gave up re-election to defend democracy

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, made a historic statement last Wednesday night. Because it was the first since last Sunday, when he withdrew from re-election, and it was the means he chose to explain this decision to American citizens and the world.

Supporters gathered in front of the White House. At the Rose Garden, employees ordered pizza and ice cream as if they were going to watch the latest episode of the most popular series of the moment.
