The Opening
Ceremony for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 was the largest in Games history! It
was open to all: residents from Paris and its region, as well as visitors from
all over France and around the world. The ceremony took place last Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m. local time and lasting
just under four hours, with the final stages taking place as the sun set across
the French capital Opening of the Olympic games. Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, and
Aya Nakamura delivered memorable performances. Lady Gaga kicked off the event
with a spectacular rendition of Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon truc en plumes” along the
Seine River. Following her performance, Celine Dion closed the ceremony with a
powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s famous song “Hymne á l’amour” at the Eiffel
Tower. It was the first live performance since the announcing her stiff-person
syndrome diagnosis in 2022. Snoop Dogg and other industry veterans also
showcased their flair during this historic event.

In
the East Zone of São Paulo, a balloon caused an incident that affected the
electricity supply to around 400,000 properties. The balloon, which was 75
meters long, was launched with fireworks and a festive atmosphere. Fortunately,
there were no injuries, but the electrical wiring in at least seven
neighborhoods was hit. Enel, responsible for energy supply, managed to restore
power to 95% of customers quickly, 40% immediately and 55% within 17 minutes
after the incident. It is important to remember that releasing balloons is
prohibited and can cause serious damage and safety risks. Police are
investigating the incident to find those responsible. There are still 5,000
properties without electricity in the region while the remains of the balloon
are removed from the wiring. It is essential that everyone is responsible and
avoids the practice of releasing balloons, considering the negative impacts
they can cause.

In
historic speech, Biden says he gave up re-election to defend democracy
The
President of the United States, Joe Biden, made a historic statement last
Wednesday night. Because it was the first since last Sunday, when he withdrew
from re-election, and it was the means he chose to explain this decision to
American citizens and the world.
Supporters
gathered in front of the White House. At the Rose Garden, employees ordered
pizza and ice cream as if they were going to watch the latest episode of the
most popular series of the moment. On Sunday (21), Biden announced that he
would give up re-election in a letter and on July 24, 2024, read here in our
latest edition, he communicated the decision live. The speech was in the Oval
Office, the president's office. When he talks about there, Americans know they
need to pay attention. It was a farewell speech in which Joe Biden stated that
the future of the country is at stake. A historic moment in which he gives up,
in his words, in defense of union and democracy.
