Anna Jarvis the Woman who created the Mother’s day

Anna Jarvis was born in 1864, in Webster (Virginia), in the United States. She was the daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis, a community activist dedicated to social work and childcare, so Anna grew up in an environment influenced by her mother's dedication to the community.

After her mother's death in 1905, Anna was determined to honor the legacy she left behind. She started a campaign to create a national day dedicated to mothers, inspired by the dedication and unconditional love that Ann Reeves showed throughout her life.

Anna organized the first Mother's Day celebrations in 1908, in Grafton (Virginia) and Philadelphia (Pennsylvania). His choice of the second Sunday in May for the holiday was in honor of the anniversary of his mother's death. Anna Jarvis's life was marked by a strong sense of purpose and dedication to her cause. She had no children of her own, but her determination to honor all mothers became a personal mission.
