Gaza after riot during humanitarian aid
The statement was made on Friday (1st), when members of the
organization visited around 200 people who are undergoing treatment at Al-Shifa
hospital. On the occasion, the UN distributed medicines, vaccines, fuel and
treated those injured in the incident the day before.
It was the first time that an Organization convoy arrived in
the region in more than a week.
“As I speak to you, this hospital is treating more than 200
people who were injured yesterday. We saw people with gunshot wounds. We saw
amputees and we saw children up to 12 years old who were injured
yesterday," said the head of Ocha's sub-office in Gaza, Georgios
Petropoulos.
"We need to have a safe passage through all of Gaza to

Former professor transforms the lives of medical
students at an American University
The word philanthropy has Greek origins, meaning love for
humanity. An act of philanthropy is, essentially, an act of generosity, of
sharing good. And that's exactly what a woman did this week in the United
States.
Students at a medical school were called to a mysterious and
mandatory meeting early in the morning. They had no idea that the announcement
that would be made would change their lives.
“I am happy to tell you that from August onwards the Albert
Einstein Faculty of Medicine will no longer charge monthly fees”.
In the midst of the euphoria, some students still found it
difficult to believe what they had just heard. Emotion took over the
auditorium.
Ruth Gottesman, who made the announcement to the students,
was the one who donated US$1 billion - almost R$5 billion Brazilian reals - to
the college. She is 93 years old, having spent 55 of them working at the
college. The money is from the inheritance she received from her husband, a
billionaire investor, who died in 2022. His request was: “Do what you think is
right with it.”
